Welcome to our new and exciting website. We are very pleased you are so interested in St. John’s that you wanted to find out more. Let me introduce myself, I am Vicki Hewitt-Lee and I am the Headteacher at St. John’s. I’ll try to tell you a little bit about not only our school but our Church and our fantastic community!
St. John’s is a voluntary controlled school, maintained by Tameside L.A. We have a very special relationship with the church and the community as we have worked in partnership for over 160 years. Our school is a place where everyone is valued and treated with respect. Pupils, past and present, parents, teachers and friends from the community feel both privileged and proud to be part of St. John’s.
Rev. Tim Hayes starts our weekly spiritual journey on Monday and then we visit Church on Thursday for a service again led by Rev. Tim Hayes.
Although our school was established in 1844 on Oxford Rd, next to the Church, we are now set back off Cheetham Hill Rd on Westmorland Ave. We may be a school with a tradition but we are not stuck in the past. We have a recently built state of the art Foundation Stage Unit where children can explore and meet exciting challenges and the rest of our school has just finished being remodelled!!
